This week, we’ve been exploring the fascinating world of gestures and body language.

You’ve learned that a simple shrug or a friendly wave can say a thousand words, often without uttering a sound. But did you know that English itself uses our very own hands, feet, and legs to create powerful expressions?

We’re talking about phrasal verbs and idioms!

Phrasal verbs are those tricky but terrific combinations of a verb and a preposition or adverb that take on a new meaning.

Idioms are similar, but they are fixed phrases where the meaning isn’t obvious from the individual words.

Both are a huge part of how native speakers communicate, and many of them are inspired by our bodies! Let's dive in and see how our limbs help us express so much more.
