Living in a famous city like London is a dream for many, but it is important to look at both sides.

We can use prefixes to help us describe the advantages (positives) and the disadvantages (negatives).

The “Dis-” Prefix: Turning Positives into Negatives

The prefix dis- usually means “not” or “the opposite of.”

  • Advantage vs. Disadvantage: A major advantage of London is the culture. However, a big disadvantage is the high cost of rent.

  • Agree vs. Disagree: You might agree that the museums are great, but you might disagree with the price of a coffee!
