Welcome to the Friday Fix!

👉 Each Friday, we break down a real-world professional problem and replace "textbook" phrases with the authentic, native-level language that actually gets results.

The Situation:

You’re in a team meeting. Your manager proposes a new, aggressive timeline to launch a project. You know from looking at the data that this timeline is unrealistic and will cause major issues. You need to speak up and push back - but without undermining their authority in front of the team.

The Challenge:

Write exactly what you would say in the meeting (3–4 sentences) to voice your concern while remaining respectful and collaborative.

Try it yourself before scrolling down!

Key Phrases:

Here are a few sentence starters to help you hedge your language:

• “I really like the direction of...”

• “One thing we might want to consider is...”

• “My only concern with...”

• “I wonder if we could...”

👇 Ready to see how a professional would handle this? The model answer, a breakdown of why these specific phrases work, and the common trap most ESL speakers fall into are below.
