Think of coordination as the idea of making sure different things or different people work together smoothly, like the parts of a clock or the members of a sports team.

1. The Main Idea: Working Together

When we talk about coordination, we mean setting things up so there are no mistakes or big problems, especially with timing.

In life: When you look at your calendar and your friend’s calendar and find a time that works for both of you, you are using coordination.

In our theme: Good coordination is needed to plan an international call so that one colleague isn’t calling at an ungodly hour.

2. The Verb: To Coordinate

The verb is what you do to achieve the smooth plan.

  • Meaning: To bring two or more things together so they fit or match.

  • Example: “We need to coordinate the time of the meeting so the New York and Mumbai teams can both attend.” (We need to make their times work together).

3. The Opposite: Poor Coordination

If there is poor coordination, things go wrong.

  • Example: If I send an email but forget to change the time for the time zone difference, that is a mistake because of poor coordination.
