Have you ever noticed that distinct slap-slap-slap sound that signals warm weather and relaxation?

We’re talking about flip-flops, the simplest, most popular summer footwear around the world.

How do you describe these casual shoes that are perfect for the beach, the pool, or just lounging around?


Think of it this way:

Flip-flops are a type of open-toed, flat sandal with a Y-shaped strap that passes between the first and second toes and around either side of the foot. The name itself is an onomatopoeia—it comes directly from the sound the sandal makes when the sole hits the heel! They are the quintessential shoes of holidays and warm weather.
