Practise English Live and Build the Daily Habit That Makes It Stick

Once a month you speak. Every day you improve. From €15 a month.

The Fluency Gap

You have spent years learning grammar rules. You can read articles and watch films without trouble. But when the pressure is on, in a high-stakes meeting, an interview, or a social event, the fluent English in your head won’t come out of your mouth.

Your mind goes blank. You sound like a student when you want to sound like a professional.

That’s the Fluency Gap. And it’s where most intermediate learners stay stuck.

Occasional lessons and textbooks won’t close it. Neither will another grammar app. What you need is a daily habit to keep you moving, and regular live practice with a teacher who knows exactly what’s holding you back.

That’s what you get here.

Who this is for

Intermediate learners (roughly B1 to C1) who already read and understand English comfortably but want to speak with genuine confidence in professional and real-world settings.

If that’s you, keep reading.

What you get as a Member

Four things, designed to work together.

A live group conversation class with me, once a month.

One Saturday morning a month, a small group of us get on a video call for an hour and actually speak English together. No lectures, no grammar drills. Real conversation on a fresh topic each time, with me in the room giving you feedback and hearing how other learners handle the same tricky moments. This is the practice that’s genuinely hard to find as a busy adult learner, and it’s included with your membership.

The full weekly rhythm.

Six articles a week, Monday through Saturday, each one focused on a specific piece of professional or real-world English. Free subscribers get two of them in full (Monday and Wednesday) plus teasers of the other three. Members get everything, including the deeper training articles on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

The Premium Library.

A proper library of resources for when the weekly rhythm isn’t enough. Six structured Mini Courses on the things professional learners actually struggle with. The Vault, a growing collection of grammar references, study templates, listening practice, and career resources. Guided audio coming regularly. All yours to browse and use at your own pace.

The book: Speak Like a Brit - Guide and Workbook

My full digital guide and workbook, the same one I sell on Amazon, yours to download the moment you join. Designed to help you move past textbook English and start using the expressions and rhythms native speakers actually use.

The people behind the Lab

There are two of us here, with more than forty years of teaching and coaching between us. Here’s who we are.

Hi, I’m Rachel

Rachel Boyce BEd (Hons), CBA, MA (ELT)

I’m a UK-qualified language expert with a Master’s in English Language Teaching, but my perspective is a little different from most teachers. I spent years in international trade before I ever taught a lesson, so I know which 20% of the language produces 80% of your professional results.

I don’t teach textbook English. I teach real-world impact, taking hesitant speakers and turning them into confident, professional communicators.

I also know your side of the table better than most. I’ve lived in Italy for twenty years and run my whole working life in a language that was not my own. So when your good English won’t come out under pressure, I don’t only understand it as a teacher. I know it from the inside.

And I’m Paul

Paul M. O’Neill

I’ve spent more than twenty years coaching professionals who use English as a second language. Engineers, lawyers, managers, sales teams. People who are brilliant at their jobs, but feel like a different person the moment they have to do that job in English.

Here’s what all those years taught me. The best communicators in English are not the ones with perfect grammar or a flawless accent. They’re the ones who stopped trying to be perfect and started focusing on being understood. More often than not that’s a confidence problem rather than a language one, and confidence is something you can build.

So that’s what I bring to the Lab. Not textbook exercises, but practical frameworks you can use in your next meeting, your next email, your next difficult conversation. Structure for when the pressure is on, so your good ideas actually get heard.

You’ll hear us both across the week

We set the pace on Monday, and the two of us get together for a chat on Wednesday for the BizPod and again on Friday for the Fix, where we take a real professional problem apart and hand you the language that actually solves it.

If you want to feel as confident in English as you do in your own language, you’re in the right place. Try the ideas, tell us how they land, and if something doesn’t work for you, we’ll find something that does.
